Obituary for Marie Muir (Loretta)

Marie Muir (Loretta)
Marie passed away at the Clinton Hospital on November 11, 2016 in her 84th year, a life-long resident of Seaforth. Loving wife for 63 years of Jack Muir. They met on a blind date, set up by some friends, in 1952 and were married in 1953. Marie always described the blind date, as “love at first sight”.

She was the proud mother of Danny Muir (Mary), Barb Muir (Cathy Bodfield), and Jill Muir (Mark Sully). Loving sister of John Munro (Rose Burgess), sister in law of Beth Muir, Doris Muir, Jurrien Hoekstra and Angus Schilroth. Predeceased by her mother Ella Jean Armstrong-Munro and her siblings Faye Munro, Gary Munro and Gayle Munro. Deeply loved and fondly remembered by her 5 grandchildren Carrie-Anne Muir, Tracy Rosetti (Mirco), Kelly Muir, Janelle Muir-Phillips (Wesley) and Christopher Muir-Sararas (Adrienne Racher). Cherished Great Grandma (GG) to Maya, Jack and Elliot.

Marie lived a wonderful life full of many good times and laughter. She worked as a secretary for a number of years alongside Don Eaton, at Eaton Insurance Brokers. Marie enjoyed the social part of her job and always looked forward to getting out her punch bowl every Christmas, taking it to the office and filling it with rum and eggnog to begin the festive cheer. She enjoyed lawn bowling, travelling to the tropical islands, knitting, playing euchre, cribbage, chase the ace, twenty one (a little competitive too as she would bring out her little pouch of coins), cooking, trying new recipes and baking a delicious dutch apple pie.

But most of all, Family was of the utmost importance to Marie and they meant the world to her. She always said, Family means the most and they are number One. She was surrounded by all, during her final days. Much love, hand holding and memories were exchanged. Guitar music and a sing song at bedside were part of her stay, which also brought joy to others in the hospital. Marie always liked a party.

The family will be forever grateful for the warm care and kindness shown by the Doctor and all the nurses at the Clinton Hospital. In the twelve days they spent with her, the caregivers learned what her loved ones had known for a lifetime. Family was a beautiful part of her life.

A celebration of Marie’s life will take place at the Seaforth Legion, on Sunday, November 20th, from 1 to 3 PM.

She loved flowers but Marie along with Jack have been supporters of their community, so we ask, in lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Seaforth Royal Canadian Legion Branch 156 and can be arranged through McGlynn Family Funeral Home, Seaforth, 519-527-1390. Cremation has taken place. Online condolences can be made by visiting Marie’s memorial at www.mcglynnfamilyfuneralhome.com
