Our Heritage

Ab Whitney purchased the funeral home of S. T. Holmes and Son in 1943.  in 1975, after three decades of serving the Seaforth community, Mr. Whitney sold the business to Ross and Joyce Ribey.  Choosing to honour the Whitney heritage, Ross and Joyce renamed the funeral home Whitney-Ribey Funeral Home.

Suddenly in 2009, Ross Ribey passed away and Ruth Townsend assumed the role of managing funeral director.  An employee of the funeral home since 1991, Ruth strived to maintain the worthy reputation Whitney-Ribey Funeral Home had earned in the community.

On November 1, 2011, Ross' wife Joyce, sold the business to John and Sandy McGlynn.  While upholding the standards of service and assistance Whitney Ribey was known for, John and Sandy changed the name of the business to McGlynn Family Funeral Home.

Today, John, Sandy and the staff of McGlynn Family Funeral Home continue to offer families traditional funeral services, memorial services of choice and preplanned funeral arrangements.  Along with John and Sandy, Ruth Townsend remains a familiar face at the funeral home and Steve Hildebrand is a new addition to the regular staff complement at McGlynn's.

Serving the community and surrounding area with compassion, understanding and dignity is the utmost goal of McGlynn Family Funeral Home.  Together, they work with local clergy and community professionals to help families find their way through the journey of loss.
